We moved into a home with a ¼ acre yard three years ago in January 2005. I knew we would have a challenge with the yard from the beginning. From the street the “lawn” appeared green and only walking into the yard could you view what the “green” really was – weeds and crabgrass! I really didn’t think too much about it until pulling weeds from the lawn was almost a full time job. I was pulling and digging weeds that had long roots that had been there for some time. This was not exactly a fun job! Then I noticed patches of bare spots where the weeds were missing and only clay soil. I sprinkled grass seed all over the yard both front and back from the local home improvement store the first year. I became discouraged and called a lawn care service the second year. They provided a combination of weed control and fertilization treatments designed to target every lawn care issue. Hummmmm, didn’t work on my lawn. I still didn’t have the grass that should be in the yard. And now I had mushrooms, and fungus growing between blades of grass. Finally, after listening to the Garden Sense Program every Saturday and hearing how and what products are available for the lawn. Turf Trust appeared a.o.k with me. I have applied Pronto, Turf Trust Fertilizer, and the certified grass seed recommended and guess what? I now have green grass in my yard! Without the Saturday program I truly don’t know if my lawn would ever have had any green grass. I wasn’t aware of “certified” grass seed and since using it there really is a big difference. I’m a huge believer of Turf Trust, I made the switch from the old 5-10-5 application years ago. I know Turf Trust is the Rolls Royce of fertilizers. There is no comparison to any of the other fertilizer out on the market. I've used name brands and off brands and my lawn has suffered for this mistake. This is probably true with any product but especially true with Turf Trust. "YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR". I go back a long way having listened to Jack Eden for years. He was the one who started me using IBDU, and turned me on to Roozen's in Fort Washington, Md. I have used Turf Trust since it has been out and my lawn looks better than a golf course. I follow their program of twice in the fall and once in the spring and my lawn is the envy of the neighborhood. If I have any questions I call Jos Roozen at 301-248-2500, ( I have that number memorized), and he helps me out over the phone. He got me onto Plant Trust which I use on all my shrubs and trees. I cannot say enough good things about these products. It is without a doubt the finest quality products you can purchase for your lawn. Talk about curb appeal, people come by and always comment on how good my grass looks and want to know what I am putting on my lawn to make it look so green thru the summer when neighbors yards have faded. Turf Trust makes me look good. I keep an extra bag of Turf Trust with a pad of paper and pen in my garage so people can write down what I am using and where they can get it. Six years ago we built a house on two acres of never before used family land. Hello Mr. Roozen, I wish I had heard you 26 years ago. I have tried doing myself with Scott products that did not do well. Then we hired ChemLawn for several years, they would spray from the truck. I don't know what they used, but that did not go well either. After that we tried, Natural lawn, don't know what was the product, except it was granules, that also did not help the lawn. I have tried and listened to others of not cutting too close and watering more often, but it is not until I followed your advise that lawn has improved tremendously. I took your advise and applied the Turf Trust in August of this year, and after 8 weeks, as you recommended, applied in October. With only two applications, the lawn has improved so very much, the grass is so green and lushes as a real natural carpet. I was having a conversation with a young man with an accent at Roozen Garden Center in Fort Washington Maryland. I had some concerns about the nitrogen in fertilizers and how it may affect my lawn in the hot summer months. My lawn at the time was an average lawn. I have a sprinkler system, but my lawn was not as full and green as I thought it could be. The good gentleman told me about turf Trust and gave me a printed lawn renovation program schedule sheet. He told me, Turf Trust fertilizer is the only fertilizer I will ever need. I purchased two bags of the fertilizer, went home and applied the fertilizer to my lawn. After a few weeks, I had my lawn cut at about 4” and I noticed a full green look. At the time of the second cut, I noticed a richer, thicker lawn with a deep green color. All that week, I received comments from my neighbors stating that my lawn looked like carpet. I had not thought about it quit like that, but, after considering what was said, I thought to myself, it does look like carpet. I applied the fertilizer in June, and I did not apply anything else all summer long. My lawn retained the full luster look and green color during the hot summer months. I used Turf Trust the 1st time in mid September 2007 after hearing about it on WMAL Garden Sense. Can't believe how thick and green my grass has gotten since using this product in only one application. Wow ... what a amazing product! My home is close to BWI airport and I travel frequently. So, a few weeks ago I was at a window seat and noticed that during our approach we were on a path that would fly us near my neighborhood. In 2002 my construction project disturbed 5000 square feet of existing lawn. The following spring, I began the restoration in earnest. I began the process of establishing my new lawn during the months of March through May. The new tall fescue turf slowly rooted with a thin coverage of new growth. Due to living on land with a well, my watering was minimal. Then in late August with a beginnings of a new lawn, I heard about Turf Trust lawn fertilizer. I was looking for a product for my fall feeding application that was a slow feeder that would encourage my new lawn to thicken-up. Sure enough, with sufficient rainfall and 2 fall feedings of Turf Trust application at the specified rate my new lawn responded quite well. In the following spring the lawn was well established. With the fall feeding in September, I achieved a lawn that was restored and the construction activity was but a memory. Since I used Turf Trust for the restoration, I expanded my Turf Trust application over the entire lawn. The results are outstanding. I have a dense turf that is a rich green color. When we bought our home 25 years ago the septic system was replaced due to the drain field leaking. What a mess. I tried for years to get decent grass to grow. I have been known in my neighborhood as the woman who hates lawns. Last year I began systematically replacing the grass in my front and back yard with beds of bushes and flowers. They sure did - they killed everything - including the grass. I told them "Leave my lawn alone-you're fired-I'll do it myself-with the help of Jos". For nearly 2 years we have put Turf Trust through what I think has been the ultimate test. We recently moved to a house whose lawn had been terribly neglected for years and was nearly overrun with aggressive weeds, had a hodgepodge of grass types, and a wide variety of sun exposure. It was impractical to till the lawn and start over. We had seen how well Turf Trust worked on a healthy lawn but didn't know if it could also rehabilitate a lawn. We began fertilizing immediately and then seeded and attacked the weeds. After the first year, our neighbor said our lawn looked "like carpet."
